Westmoor Engineering Ltd continues to invest in on-going product development and recently, successfully tested a large, watertight hatch to a hydrostatic pressure rating of 2.05 bar.  The hatch was developed in-house by Westmoor Project Engineer, Jack McCusker.   

The test was conducted at our testing facility in Cramlington and was witnessed by American Bureau of Shipping.

The watertight hatch was specifically developed as a result of our customers request and is yet another example of Westmoor’s continued innovation and  ability to meet customer requirements.

We are pleased to report that 2011 was another successful year for Westmoor.  Since 1898, Westmoor has been accredited with the design and manufacture of thousands of efficient ship doors and hatches installed internationally.  Throughout 2011we provided watertight doors and hatches for the marine industry specifically naval applications, boats and ship repair.  We are proud of our heritage within the marine industry and anticipate our continued involvement with marine projects in 2012. As a result, this year we are implementing a significant research and development programme to ensure our watertight, weather tight and gastight door and hatch range continues to meet the advancing requirements of the marine industry.

In addition to supplying our marine door range, Westmoor developed bespoke design solutions for civil industry and government projects.  The accumulation of over a century of knowledge regarding watertight, weather tight and gas tight door solutions enabled Westmoor to provide an enhanced solution for new customers within alternative markets.  We continue to welcome new challenges from alternative markets throughout 2012.

Westmoor are committed to product development and our involvement in renewable energy programmes continues to increase due to the requirements for fire rated watertight doors and hatches.  We will work closely with Lloyds, DNV and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) once again in 2012 to ensure the highest quality products for Westmoor customers.

The Westmoor team have returned from DSEi 2011.  The exhibition was an interesting experience and has led to some promising opportunities for our organisation. We would like to thank all those who visited us on stand S3-192 to discover the enhanced capabilities of Renown Group.

DSEi is the world’s largest fully integrated defence and security exhibition and provides an excellent opportunity to meet our team and discuss naval applications for Westmoor watertight doors and hatches.  

Renown Group has successfully exhibited at DSEi in previous years.  This year, Westmoor will be exhibiting with Pensher Skytech and Renown Engineering giving Westmoor customers the opportunity to discover more of what Renown Group can offer.  Pensher Skytech design, manufacture and install blast, ballistic, fire and security access systems.  Renown Engineering, an approved MOD supplier, provides engineering sub-contracting services to the defence industry.

Westmoor Engineering Ltd have successfully designed and manufactured a double doorset with opening size 2000 x 2790mm.  On Monday 27^th June 2011, the door was tested at BRE Global, Watford and passed the A30 rated test. Several challenges were encountered during the development of this door due to its size and specification. We are pleased to now offer this product to the market with an assurance of quality fire resistance.  We congratulate the design team on their capability for innovation and dedication to fulfilling our customers exacting requirements.
