Seawork at the heart of UK Maritime Growth

Westmoor has returned from last week’s Seawork International 2013, and would like to thank all those who we met during the show, especially those who visited our stand.

It was another busy exhibition in a (mostly!) sunny Southampton, and the show evidenced high levels of activity in the UK maritime industry. Thousands descended upon one of Europe’s most active commercial ports to attend the exhibition, striking deals and generating new interest in the varied and innovative products on show.

Indeed, the outlook for the UK’s marine industries is positive, with 5,000 companies and 90,000 employees involved in an industry generating £10bn turnover. The UK government has recognised this, and has contributed £10m toward a Maritime Centre of Excellence with University of Southampton to further cement the area as a hub for UK maritime activity.

As well as the leisure industry, Oil & Gas and Offshore Wind require a significant marine input for years to come, offering further opportunities to a growing industry.
